Goals is a successful and established operator of 5-a-side soccer centres. Goals operates nearly 40 dedicated 5-a-side centres across the United Kingdom boasting some of the best floodlit artificial pitches and supporting leisure facilities in the country. Recently, Goals has taken the concept to the United States where there is a growing interest in 5-a-side soccer.

Partnering with Adactus in 2004 with the aim to enhance their business, Adactus built a suite of integrated Web and Windows applications to manage 5-a-side leagues and tournaments, track members and resources, and increase sales through an online booking services.

Leagues and Tournaments at the Heart of the Business

One of the most appealing elements of the Goals experience are the weekly 5-a-side leagues and tournaments. Adactus provided Goals with a specialist system to schedule and calculate both leagues and tournaments, taking away the complex calculations and scheduling challenges from local centre staff. Tournaments can now be setup and pitches efficiently allocated at the touch of a button. The system is also able to collate the results and relay these directly to large screens at the local Goals Centres for customers to view after the game or during the tournament.

The Goals web site is not only the first point of contact for new players, it is also the focal point for local branch league information with team members logging in each week to see their League results and standing within the League. Branch league results are automatically uploaded to www.goalsfootball.co.uk web site and a Galatico's Order of Merit is automatically produced using the top teams from the individual branches around the country. This adds to the competitive atmosphere not only within a branch, but across the entire Goals national sporting community.

As well as providing local branch news and information, the web site includes an online booking system built by Adactus, and the ability for teams and players to manage their account online through the "MyGoals" service. It even has built in reminders for letting players know when to turn up for the next game!

Making the Business Smarter

Having made a positive impact in the business by providing the leagues system and web site, Adactus then turned its attention to the day-to-day tasks of running a 5-a-side soccer centre to see how improvements could be made. The result was "Smartcentre", a highly customised Windows application for managing bookings, members, enquiries and payments. Linked in with the web site, it is able to seamlessly take online and offline bookings at the same time, process payments and generate letters and agreements as required.

Built as an enterprise class system, the system is more than able to cope with the rigours of day-to-day business in a busy branch, as well as producing detailed management reports for head office use.

UK Based Call Centres

To enable staff at branch level to spend as much of their time with customers as possible, Goals setup a call centre to handle general telephone enquiries and booking requests for all branches. This required a streamlined booking application to be put in place so call centre staff can efficiently make bookings and manage customer accounts. Adactus built the system to integrate with the other systems inside Goals, improving the experience both for customers calling in over the phone and those visiting branches.
